Fire Escape - Abandon Head

Fire Escape is Jonny Stephens. With
"Abandon Head" he secures himself the
position of one of the greatest songwriters
of the decade. Using traditional song
structures he creates music that is both
beautiful and accessible. The songs on this
album will enter your head and never leave.
"Abandon Head" has more hooks in it than
a fisherman's tackle box! It's a masterpiece.
And it really is as simple as that.

Shining - Dinmix

DINMIX is remixes of tracks from the "DIN"
album, originally released in America two
years ago by Fifth Colvmn to rapturous
critical acclaim. Mixing the harsh power of
electro- industrial with techno, ambient and
trip-hop. Dinmix is an aggressive and
abrasive album that works around the
structure of actual tunes. Julians' career
covers some of the most important and
well known underground bands of the 90's.
Having been a member of NITZER EBB for
the six years prior to the release of their
album BIG HIT, he has just finished touring
as part of C-Tec (Jean-Luc Demeyer of
Front 242's new project) and Cubanate,
as well as working with Die Krupps.

Sonic Subjunkies - Molotov Lounge

Sonic Subjunkies came to Iris Light after
releasing two 12" Singles for pioneering
label DIGITALHARDCORE. This, their debut
album, was a slight shift away from the
DHR sound, with no vocals and more sub
bass than is probably safe this varied and
unusual album quickly became a
benchmark, with both John Peel and Mary
Anne Hobbs both picking up on the album.

Blue - Corrosion

"Corrosion" is the brand new mini album
from this incredible ambient techno duo.
Formerly of the Sabres Of Paradise label
Blue released the, much acclaimed, album
"Nightwork" on Iris Light in 1998. Consisting
of 8 tracks - and one hidden track - that
use dub, break beats and atmospherics to
create a whirlwind of intelligent dance
music. This is not Ambience in its
traditional sense. Blue have created some
of the most evocative and intelligent music
in the past. With "Corrosion", however, they
take their sound even further to a place
where it evolves into this beat driven
experience you have to hear to believe.

Blue - Nightwork

Nightwork was the first album Blue released
after leaving SABRES OF PARADISE. Blue
made their impact with the release of the
debut album "Resistance", they followed
this dub charged ambient masterpiece
with "Mexican Church". Nightwork utilised
the hallmarks of dub ambience that the
band had already put in place, however the
added dark cinematic soundscapes and
more beat-driven orientation proved that
Nightwork was, and still is, a beautiful
and necessary release.

Aube - Substructural Penetration
(i-LIGHT008CD)

"Substructural Penetration", the second
album to be released on Iris Light by this
incredible artist was a Double CD
compilation that spanned the years 1991 -
1995. It was also the first Aube album to
include more than one sound source.
Using Water, Metal, Wire VCO's etc,
"Substructural" compiled various singles,
compilation appearances and unreleased
tracks. "Substructural" is a necessary item
for any fans' collection and the perfect
introduction to this enigmatic artist.

Hoodlum Priest - Hoodlum Priest
(i-LIGHT007CD)

"Hoodlum Priest" is a dark, trip-hop styled,
album. Aided by members of Apollo 440 -
with Mary Magdelyte providing vocals -
Hoodlum Priest stepped away from the
industrial tinged rap of his former release
"Heart Of Darkness" (on ZTT / WEA).
Hoodlum Priest is a superbly crafted
release that includes the singles
"Slow And Low" and "Naked Time".

Szeki Kurva -
The Fearless Vampire Killers
(i-LIGHT006CD)

Third release from this "terrorist" group.
Szeki Kurva reached their pinnacle with this
release. Using a more refined production
technique yet still retaining the same chaos
and humour this was an mini album that
would be the last release to feature Hugarian
singer Biata. "Fearless Vampire Killers"
is still beyond reproach for sheer power.
Possibly the final attack against the music
industry!

Maeror Tri - Emotional Engramm
(i-LIGHT005CD)

"Emotional Engramm" was the final album
to be released by this German trio, and
arguably their best release. With two of
the band embarking on their new project
TROUM it was a testament to the fact that
no one has taken dark ambient drone
based music to such a height either prior or
after this album. A must for ever fan of
Maeror Tri and anyone who has even just a
passing interest in the Dark ambient scene.

Szeki Kurva -
The Sound Of Dead Goats
(i-LIGHT004CD)

The second release for Szeki Kurva on Iris
Light. This release was the first thing they
released via their own cassette based
label FGZ. "The Sound Of Dead Goats" was
a stepping stone to what would come,
the band were literally learning their craft.
This album is raw, untapped chaos and
will remain as such. It is, basically, an
essential release for any fan of the band.
"The Sound Of Dead Goats" is as nasty
as it's name suggests.

Aube - Stared Gleam
(i-LIGHT003CD)

"Stared Gleam" was the first Aube album to
appear on Iris Light and was also the first
album by this artist to mix both ambient
and noise styles. Using the Glow Lamp as
a sound source "Stared Gleam" was a
hypnotic and disturing album that quickly
became a classic. In our opinion it is yet
to be bettered.

Szeki Kurva - Music For Joyriders
(i-LIGHT002CD)

The first CD release by this band. A speed
driven album that went from the Muppets
to 240bpm Hardcore without blinking an
eyelid. Chaotic, humourous and violent.
Are there any other elements needed for a
debut album?! "Music For Joyriders" is a
classic album in the truest sense of the
phrase.

Band Of Pain -
You're Miss Fortune
(i-LIGHT001CD)

Iris Light was set up to release this album.
Approached by the band we really couldn't
resist. A dark ambient album that was
beyond reproach, yet subtle enough to cross
over into the other areas of muisic. Band Of
Pain came of age with this release. Limited
to 500 copies this album became hard to
find almost immediately. A beautiful album
that sowed the seeds of Band Of Pains'
full potential.
